The Bicycle Diaries

I sat there with

The bicycle bigger than me
Once new, now broken
Just like my dreams
Of places

I sat there with
Loss bigger than my world
Cried till my eyes
Burned with the blurry pool
Of guilt

I can’t,
Said I.
He can’t,
Said they.

I sat there with
Wounds bigger than my bruises
Should I stand up?
Run away?

I sat there with
Arms bigger than my sorrow
Enfolding me in an embrace
That gave me hope
Of tomorrow

I stood up
With steps bigger than my feet
Taking charge of my mistakes
With courage and strength
Of love
